Amanda Burrows | Principal

Amanda (she/her) is located in Chinatown Vancouver, Canada on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples. She has over 15 years of experience raising funds for nonprofits, and is focused on using her skill set to build stronger communities. She created Philanthropy Aide as a solution to the growing need for both organizations and donors to have a strategist and coach aide them in achieving their philanthropic goals.

She is the Executive Director at one of the oldest low barrier service providers in the Downtown Eastside after spending several years working at a foundation that provides capacity building support to the nonprofit social services sector. Previous work experience includes the Guggenheim NYC and the Art Gallery of Ontario, and senior development roles at Vancouver Opera, the Museum of Vancouver and Social Venture Partners.

As a connector Amanda develops programs and curriculum that stimulate philanthropic behaviour, and volunteers with organizations, political campaigns and projects that encourage inclusion, civic engagement and social purpose. Currently, Amanda is part of the team that created DTES Response -- a frontline fundraising and support network to ensure COVID 19 does not disproportionately affect our most vulnerable and continues to do frontline organizing and recently joined the Advisory for the Ken Lyotier Fund and the Advisory for the DTES Community Land Trust Coalition.

Amanda has a degree in Art History from the University of Victoria, a Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto, and a certificate in Fundraising Management from Ryerson. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and recently earned her Public Leadership Credential (PLC) from the Harvard Kennedy School.
